Oscar Wao (a One-Man Play)

  • Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center 107 Suffolk Street New York, NY, 10002 United States (map)

ATTENTION | PRE-FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

ALL Tickets for ALL 3 shows are now SOLD OUT!!!

However,
We have managed to add a few more seats to our third show!!
Now, since there are only 10 seats, we will be raffling them off as part of a Toy Drive effort. Our co-host Power Malu will be posting 1 trivia question in the comments section below (trivia related to the book), every hour on the hour starting on December 14th at 4:00p - until all seats are raffled off.

Raffle Directions:
1 win per person (you cannot win more than once). 1 or 2 Tix per winner.
You MUST Direct Message (DM) Power Malu to answer the trivia question...if you answer on the post itself it will not count...and you will forfeit your chances...first person to answer correctly wins. Make sure you 'friend request' Power Malu to assure your DM doesn't get lost!
You will only have 4 minutes to send the DM, or we will move on to the next question the following hour.
Questions will be posted until all 10 seats are filled.
If you get it right, we will give you directions on how to get your ticket and make your toy donation directly to "Why Not Care" - the non-for-profit we will be donating our show proceeds to. You can find more info about "Why Not Care" in the link below.
Good Luck!

Once Again,
A BIG BIG THANK YOU goes out to all of you for all your support. We are extremely grateful for it, and we will be trying our best to do do more shows in the very near future; perhaps even bring it to your town (DC, NJ, WA, CA, PA, CT....and beyond)

We also want to give a HUGE HUGE shoutout to Junot Diaz for his support (and his work!), to Young Audiences NY and Literature to Life for making this show a possibility and for actually letting us do it for Puerto Rico (shout out to our show manager Joe and show director Elise!! Love you guys 🤗), to the Teatro Latea for generously opening their doors to us, and to our team (coaches, tech runners, friends and family) for their unwavering support.

Look our for our next tour of shows in the Spring of 2018 !! You can follow @itschico002 and @powermalu on social for updates about future shows/tours in a city or town near you...

"the Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao (A One-Man Play)" will be presented for a second night in the "Teatro Latea" at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center in the Lower East Side on Saturday December 30th, 2017.

The play is based on the book written by Junot Diaz, adapted and directed by Elise Thoron, and presented by actor Kelvin Grullon.

This play has been made possible through Literature to Life and by Young Audiences NY, and is being produced through the non-profit "Why Not Care" by YANY actors Michael Angel Viera aka "Power Malu" and Kelvin Grullon aka "Chico" from Chasin'Chico productions, and through the generosity of Teatro La Tea.

Each evening will feature spoken word artists (to be announced on the eventbrite page), a Coquito Showcase, DJs, the one-man play, and more, and it is being presented as a benefit charity event to raise money for Puerto Rico Hurricane Victims.
All proceeds of each evening will be donated to the organization "Why Not Care, INC" (https://www.whynotcare.com/about-us)
